Before starting the installation, verify that your SmartPeepholesAI kit contains all the following components. If anything is missing, contact our support team immediately at admin@smartpeepholesai.com.
Carefully inspect all components for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Do not attempt to install damaged components. Contact support if you find any issues before proceeding.
Taking a few minutes to prepare before installation will save you a lot of time and frustration. Make sure you have everything ready before picking up any tools.
Before installing the camera, hold your smartphone near your front door and check the WiFi signal strength. You need at least 2-3 bars of signal for reliable performance. If the signal is weak, consider moving your router closer or using a WiFi extender before proceeding.
If you live in an apartment or rented property, check your lease agreement or consult your landlord before drilling holes for the tablet wall mount. The camera itself requires no permanent modifications to your door and is fully reversible.
The Reolink Video Doorbell replaces your existing doorbell or installs as a standalone unit. Installation takes approximately 10-15 minutes and requires no special skills.
The ideal mounting location for your Reolink doorbell is beside your front door at approximately chest height (around 4-5 feet from the ground). This height provides the best field of view for the 180° camera to capture visitors from head to toe.
Take the mounting bracket from the box and hold it against the wall in your chosen position. Use a pencil to mark the screw hole positions. If you are using the wedge kit for an angled installation, attach the wedge to the bracket first before marking.
Drill pilot holes at your marked positions (if necessary) and secure the mounting bracket to the wall using the provided screws. Make sure the bracket is firmly attached and does not wobble — a secure mount is essential for camera stability and image quality.
The Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi is powered by your existing doorbell wiring (12-24VAC) or a standalone DC24V power adapter. Route the power cable through the wall opening or along the door frame, keeping it as concealed as possible for a clean installation.
If your home does not have existing doorbell wiring, you can use the included DC power adapter. Simply route the USB-C cable to a nearby power outlet. The cable can be neatly managed using adhesive cable clips along the door frame.
Carefully attach the Reolink doorbell camera unit to the mounted bracket. You will hear a satisfying click when it locks into place. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it is securely attached. The camera should not move or rotate once locked.
Plug the Reolink Digital Chime into any standard power outlet inside your home. The chime will play a sound when visitors press the doorbell button. Place it in a central location where you can hear it from different rooms — hallway or living room works best.
Connecting your Reolink camera to your home WiFi network is straightforward using the Reolink mobile app. This step must be completed before setting up the SmartPeepholesAI system.
Download the official Reolink app on your smartphone to complete the initial WiFi configuration. Search for "Reolink" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). This app is only needed for the initial setup — once connected, you will use the SmartPeepholesAI app for all daily operations.
Open the Reolink app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device, and follow the on-screen instructions. The app will guide you through scanning the QR code on the bottom of the camera and entering your WiFi credentials.
Once connected, go to Camera Settings → Network → LAN IP in the Reolink app and note down your camera's local IP address. It will look something like 192.168.1.XXX. You will need this address later when configuring SmartPeepholesAI.
In the Reolink app, navigate to Camera Settings → Network → Advanced → Port Settings and ensure RTSP is enabled on port 554. This is the protocol SmartPeepholesAI uses to display your live video feed.
For the most reliable connection, we strongly recommend setting a static IP address for your camera in your router's DHCP settings. This prevents the camera's IP from changing when your router restarts, which would require reconfiguration. Consult your router's manual or support page for instructions on how to assign a static IP (also called IP reservation) based on the camera's MAC address.
Your SmartPeepholesAI kit includes a pre-configured Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. Follow these steps to complete the tablet setup and mount it inside your door for the best experience.
Press and hold the power button on the Fire HD 8 for 3 seconds to power it on. The Amazon logo will appear, followed by the setup screen. Follow the on-screen setup wizard to:
Since SmartPeepholesAI is not available on the Amazon App Store, you need to enable installation from unknown sources to install our APK file. This is completely safe and is a standard procedure for installing trusted apps.
Only enable this setting to install the SmartPeepholesAI app. You may disable it again after installation is complete for added security.
For the best always-on display experience, adjust these settings before mounting the tablet:
The ideal mounting position for the tablet is on the wall beside or behind your front door at eye level (approximately 5 feet from the floor). This allows you to glance at the screen without bending or stretching.
Open the Silk Browser on your Fire HD 8 tablet and navigate to the following URL to download the SmartPeepholesAI app:
The download will begin automatically. Wait for it to complete (approximately 1-2 minutes depending on your internet speed).
Once the download is complete, a notification will appear at the top of the screen. Tap the notification or go to your Downloads folder and tap the SmartPeepholesAI.apk file. Tap Install when prompted and wait for the installation to complete.
Tap Open when installation is complete, or find the SmartPeepholesAI icon on your home screen. The app will launch and display the main dashboard. You are now ready to connect your camera and activate your AI features.
Download the SmartPeepholesAI app on your personal smartphone too. Visit app.smartpeepholesai.com on your phone's browser and download the APK (Android) or add the web app to your home screen (iOS) for remote monitoring from anywhere.
Kiosk mode locks the tablet to display only the SmartPeepholesAI app, preventing accidental navigation to other apps or settings. This is the recommended configuration for the indoor display tablet.

Download and install the Fully Kiosk Browser APK following the same process used for the SmartPeepholesAI app.
Open Fully Kiosk Browser and configure the following settings for optimal SmartPeepholesAI operation:
Tap Start Kiosk Mode in Fully Kiosk Browser. The SmartPeepholesAI app will open in full screen mode and the home button will be disabled. To exit kiosk mode, tap the screen 4 times in the corner and enter your admin password.
Launch the SmartPeepholesAI app on your tablet. Navigate to the Camera section using the bottom navigation bar. Tap Add Camera to begin the connection process.
Fill in the following information to connect your Reolink camera:
